Description

Tenapi Belang means a tube skirt with stripes. It is worn by members of the Suku Uma Tukang (Middle Brother) patrilineage of the Alurung ethnic group. The garment is made of two panels of warp ikat decorated cloth, traditionally dyed with morinda, yielding a brownish-red color. The main warp ikat bands can be found near the top and bottom of the skirt. The distinguishing feature of Tenapi Belang is its white and orange stripes in the middle section.
