A three-panel tube skirt in rough cotton. It has a deep blue/ black ground with seven rows of human figures and diamond motifs in supplementary-weft wrapping (buna). Similar piece, photo #206 page 312 in “Textiles of Western Timor” Yeager and Jacobson, description on page 210. Also attributed specifically to Ayotupas area in “Traditional Indonesian Textiles” by John Gillow, photo 119. The areas are adjacent and the districts have been renamed and divisions changed by the government throughout the years.Acquisition
