16.1.2-2Description
Hmong Du women shirt (Nus). Black and multi-colored fabrics from market, handspun and handwoven white cotton, handwoven silk, indigo dyed, embroidery and applique done by hand. Mrs. Mai Yang made it and used to wear it. Now as she is getting bigger, she cannot wear it, and was in need of money, so she gave it to her daughter (Mrs. Mang) to sell to TAEC. This is everyday wear, but can also be worn on special occasions and during festivals (weddings, new year celebrations, etc.). Girls age 13-years-old and up wear this shirt. It took 2-3 months to finish making, but Mrs. May Yang did not work on it every day—she used her free time away from working and farming in the fields to make this piece.Collection
