After training at Camp Claiborne, Sgt. Omer Rudrud served in the US Army 164th infantry. He was a patrol leader in battles with the Japanese on Guadalcanal in the South Pacific, and contracted Malaria and treated in hospitals back home in the USA. After WWII, Omer Rudrud was discharged from the US Army and was employed in San Diego, CA, where he married Marion Holman on 20 October 1945, and they made their home in San Diego.
After training at Camp Claiborne, Pvt Malcolm Larson also served in the US Army 164th infantry. Malcolm served several years in the South Pacific. When WWII ended, Sgt Malcolm Larson returned home, as reported in the 31 August 1945 Hillsboro Banner. Malcolm Larson was discharged from the US Army in September 1945.Cataloged By
