Ingolv Darre Peterson is the third person in the second row from the bottom. Inglov was the son of Parelius Berg Peterson and Rhonda Mae Peterson. Parelius was the Executive VP of the Hillsboro National Bank. Inglov lived in Hillsboro from 1925 to the early 1930's and graduated from Hillsboro High School in1931.
The teacher in the photo is Mrs. W. A. Kelly. A story from Ingolv about Mrs. Kelly goes like this.
"She was a widow lady of long tradition in the community and was of a New England background. Half the town had gone to school to her. She quoted adages like 'put your shoulder to the wheel and push'.
Frequent lapses by any one student resulted in an old fashioned "hair-pulling" and she put her pencil in her mouth and bit on it during the exercise. This sounds awful I know, but it had its therapeutic effect.
In spite of everything she was a wonderful teacher long on poetry like mother and prepared us for final grade exams which were given at the end of the year and qualified us for entrance into high school."
