A file of pages of information about many George Henry Ford Johnson and his wife, Margaret (Sparling) Johnson who came to Dakota Territory in 1874 and settled in Elm River Station, later renamed Quincy, where they operated a hotel and store. George H. F. Johnson was born on 3 January 1843 in Huron County, Ontario Province, Canada, the tenth child of John and Mary (Ford) Johnson of Huron County, Ontario. A chart of descendants of John and Mary (Ford) Johnson includes George H. F. and Margaret (Sparling) Johnson as No. 8 under "Generation No. 1" (see Catalogit Family History entry 2025.205.1). George and Margaret Johnson had eight children, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, John, Francis (Frank), Clarice, Clara, and Florence, of which seven lived to be adults (family photo).
