This large family history folder contains donations by Herman Stai's granddaughter Eileen (Manning) Michels, including historic photographs of family and of buildings, and Herman Stai's (1871-1924) obituary in the Hillsboro Banner. This folder contains a series of 2001 correspondences between Eileen Michels of St Paul, MN, and John Wright, TCHS President
The folder also contains a photograph of the Herman's wife, Agatha (Ofsterdahl) Stai, family (APH II 386). A High School graduation photograph of Herman and Agatha's daughter, Agnes Stai Manning, is also in this collection.
Eileen (Manning) Michels also wrote a typed 17-page family history about her parents, Walter James and Agnes (Stai) Manning.
A photograph of the Stai Livery Stable in Hillsboro is also in this folder (APH VI 256). John Wright added an annotation that "The Stai Livery Stable was purchased and moved by Donald Wright in 1941 to his farm in Caledonia Township, Section 5. He used it as his barn until 1960. After his death in 1960, his nephew Roger Wright moved onto the farmstead. In 1976 Roger purchased the farmstead and rebuilt the barn into a farm shop which is still in use in 2001."Cataloged By
