The President Lincoln Bronze Bust located on the lawn of the Traill County Courthouse in Hillsboro is a replica of the Lincoln Statue given to Norway and was dedicated on September 8, 1918. The Bust of President Lincoln given to Norway was made by 21 year old Paul Fjelde, an artist attending Valley City State Normal School when he created the statue (see included photo) It is accompanied by two engraved bronze tablets. One features an excerpt from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and reads "Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." The other reads, "Presented to Norway by the people of North Dakota, U.S.A., July 4th, 1914." These tablets are also featured on Lincoln's statue in Frogner Park in Oslo, Norway.
