Context

In 1897, members of the Norwegian Baptist Church in Hillsboro, ND, built a new church on the corner of Sargeant and 6th streets, or on lots 5 and 6 of Block 6 in the City of Hillsboro, where the former Masonic Temple was later located. From Church notices in the Hillsboro Banner, the Norwegian Baptist Church was served in its early days by Rev. S. Reinholdtsen, then in the early 1900s by Rev. P. P. Overgaard and Rev. S. O. Borsheim, and in its later years by Rev. L. J. Anderson, who in 1912 was also elected Mayor of the City of Hillsboro. On 19 May 1922, the Hillsboro Banner reported that the Norwegian Baptist Church transferred land in Hillsboro to the ND State Baptist Convention.
