From 1 to 5 July 1981, together the Cities of Mayville and Portland, ND, celebrated their Centennial (1881-1981). For this celebration, a 9" by 11", 224-page, green book titled: "A Saga of Two Cities" was prepared by a May-Port Centennial Book Committee (see book Title page, below). This book, "A History of Mayville-Portland and the area of the May-Port School district of Traill and Steele Counties, N. Dak." was dedicated "To the Pioneer Mothers and Fathers" (see book Dedication page, below). This 224-page book includes a number of chapters, for example, a timeline of historical events for Mayville and Portland, descriptions of their churches and schools, and Family Histories (see book Table of Contents page, below).
