In 1940, from January to May, the Hillsboro High School students published a newspaper titled "The Baby Banner". The newspaper staff included Mildred Hanson and Ione Pilgren, Editors; Gerhard Lovas and Bob Winberg, Sports; Fern Peterson and Frances Waters, Business Managers; and Reporters Carol Anderson, Evelyn Bakken, Lorraine Benson, Merle Harstad, Dorothy Henning, Elsie Larson, Bertha Letnes, Deneze Ludwig, Ruth Melsby, Eleanor Sarles and Susann Tjornhom.
These 1940 Hillsboro High School newspapers are available for reading at the Traill County Historical Society's Plummer House in Hillsboro. They were donated to the TCHS in 2024 by Ramon Borke on behalf of her father Merlin 'Bud' Borke.Acquisition
