This Ackerman family history folder contains information about Louis and Katie (Adams) Ackerman who farmed in Michigan Township in Grand Forks County adjacent to Traill County. From a 1927 Grand forks County Atlas plat map for the SE portion of Michigan Township (below), we can see that Louis and Katie's farmstead was located within 270-acres of land in the south-half of Section 27 and they also farmed 160-acres in the SE Qtr. of Sect. 28 and in the S-half of Sect. 21.
In 1949, Louis and Katie Ackerman retired and moved into the town of Reynolds, ND. This information was compiled and written by Karen (Fleischer) Ackerman into a 57-page family history document, which was scanned into a Ackerman_Genealogy.pdf file by Karen's granddaughter Jackie (Ausk) Baumgartner and contributed to the TCHS Plummer House Museum in Hillsboro, ND. Ludwig “Louis” Ackerman, who was born on 22 February 1873 in Otterstadt, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, to parents Philip H. and Karolina (Diezel) Ackerman. On 7 November 1898 Louis Ackerman married Katie "Katche" Adams in East Grand Forks, MN (photo). Katie "Katche" Adams was born on 14 January 1881 in Germany to parents Ferdinand Sr. and Anna Maria (Ackerman) Adams [Traill Co. History, Vol. I, below]. She married Ludwig “Louis” Ackerman on November 7, 1898, in East Grand Forks, MN.
Louis and Katie (Adams) Ackerman had ten children: Bertha (b. 1899, d. 1960), Philip H. (b. 1902, d. 1936), Bernard A. (b. 1903, d. 1914), Theodore F. (b. 1905, d. 1990), Adolph A. (b. 1906, d. 1981), Anna Marie (b. 1907, d. 1988), Henry P. (b. 1908, d. 1926), Albert J. (b. 1910, d. 1997), Alice Mary (b. 1913, d. 2000), and Mary Matilda (b. 1914, d. 2000).
