This family history folder has photos and documents on the lives of Fred Adams and Cecelia Kneip. The descriptions in this folder are largely based on information compiled and written by Karen (Fleischer) Ackerman, included below from pages 2 & 3 in a 6-page family history document titled "Adams_Genealogy.pdf"; this 6-page document is available for viewing as a printed document and on a PC from a USB flash-drive kept in the Ferdinand Adams Sr folder (see Catalogit entry 2025.232.1). and below from page 21 in a 78-page document titled "Kneip_Genealogy.pg. These documents were scanned by Karen's granddaughter Jackie (Ausk) Baumgartner who kindly contributed it to the TCHS, where they are available for viewing on a PC from a USB flash-drive kept in this folder in the Resource Room of the Plummer House Museum in Hillsboro, ND. Additional information was gleaned from an Ancestry.com Ackerman/Kneip/Fleischer/Hagan Family Tree by Jackie Ausk, and from newspapers such as the Hillsboro Banner and Grand Forks Herald.
Frederick Julius (Fred) Adams was born on 19 July 1904 at the family farm by Reynolds, ND, to parents Rudolph Henry (Adolph) and Katherine Agnes (Ackerman) Adams [Ancestry.com Ackerman/Kneip/Fleischer/Hagan Family Tree by Jackie Ausk]. Fred was raised on the family farm (photo as a young man, left), which was locate about three miles northwest of Reynolds, ND, in Michigan Township, Grand Forks, County [1927 map, below]. Fred's father, Rudolph or Adolph Adams was the eldest child of 14 born to Ferdinand Adams Sr. and Anna A. Ackerman [pages 2 & 3, Adams_Genealogy.pdf, below; also see Catalogit family history entry 2025.232.1].
Frederick Julius (Fred) Adams married Cecilia Anna Kneip on 19 June 1929.
Cecilia was born on 11 November 1910 in Bridgewater, Iowa, the 3rd of 12 children born to parents John Peter (JP) Jr. and Margaret or Maggie (Beitz) Kneip (individual and in a family photo, below). A family history for JP and Maggie Kneip is available in the TCHS Catalogit entry 2023.329.1.
Fred and Cecelia had two children: Elizabethann Adam (b. 2 Apr. 1930; m. Ardell F. Adams, 9 Jun. 1948, eight children; living) and Raymond C. Adams (b. 31 Oct 1930; m. Fred and Cecelia farmed 3 miles northwest of Reynolds until 1959. They retired to Reynolds, ND, where their children and grandchildren lived. Reynolds is a town with parts in Grand Forks and Traill Counties. In 1979, Fred and Cecelia celebrated their 50th or Golden wedding anniversary.
Frederick Julius (Fred) Adams died at the grand age of 94 at a community nursing home in Hillsboro, ND, on 19 June 1999 [ND Death Certif., below]. His death happened to be on the day of his 70th wedding anniversary [obit, below, Grand Forks Herald, 20 June 1999]. At the time of his death in June 1999, Fred Adams was survived by his wife Cecelia and 27 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. After a funeral service held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Reynold, Fred was buried at the Calvary Cemetery by Reynolds [monument photo, below].
Cecilia Anna (Kneip) Adams lived to the exceptionally age of 104, passing away on 3 February 2015 [ND Death Certif., below]. Cecelia the Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND [obituaries, below, Grand Forks Herald & Hillsboro Banner, 6 Feb. 2015].
