This family history folder describes the life of Mollie E. Fleischer, the daughter of Charles William (CW) and Ernestina (Bohnsack) Fleischer, who homesteaded in Bohnsack Township in Traill County in 1879. Mollie Elizabeth Fleisher was born on 25 October 1860 in Mokena, Illinois [info, left, page 63, Traill County History, Vol. I]. In the 1870 US Census, Mollie was age 9 and lived with her parents and siblings in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, where her father, CW Fleischer operated a mill.
From profiles in Jackie Baumgartner's Ancestry.com Public Member "Ackerman/Kneip/Fleischer/Hagen Family Tree", we know that Mollie Elizabeth Fleischer was the second of seven children born to Charles William (CW) Fleischer Sr. and Ernestina Bohnsack (see TCHS Catalogit Family History entry 2025.12.1). Molly Fleischer was raised on a farm in Will County, Illinois, where her parents had first established a home; they later moved to Wisconsin and Minnesota before homesteading on land in Bohnsack Township in 1879. As a young woman on the Fleischer farm, Mollie met and married neighbor William Garrett on 10 December 1889 in Grandin, ND. [ND became a state in November 1889]. William Garrett was born on 18 August 1861 in Canada to parents Sam and Elizabeth (Donald) Garrett. Sam and Elizabeth Garrett later settled in Bohnsack Township where they owned 160 acres in the SW Qtr. of Sect. 36 [see 1892 plat map].
As shown on a plat map for Bell Township in Cass County (below), Wm and Mollie (Fleischer) Garrett lived on a farm in the SE Qtr of Sect. 2, which was near his uncle John Garrett, who farmed in the SE Qtr of Section 34 in Bohnsack Township [1892 Plat map, below]. In 1900, they resided in Bell Township in Cass County, ND [1900 US Census], where Wm and Mollie raised two children [info, below, page 63, Traill County History, Vol. I]. Lillian Garrett was born on 25 October 1860 and Ira Milton Garrett was born 28 June 1893 [Family tree, below].
By 1910, Wm and Mollie, and children Lillian and Ira, had moved to a farm in Bloomfield Township in Traill County [1910 US Census]. Lilian graduated from Hillsboro High School in May 1910. A year later, on 20 March 1911, Lilliam married Frank O. Dally, a Bohnsack Township neighbor [news, Hillsboro Banner].
By 1920, Wm and Mollie, and son, Ira, had moved to a farm in Mayville Township [1920 US Census], where they remained in 1930 [US Census].
William A. Garrett retired from farming in 1935, and passed away, age 77, on 13 October 1936, at the State Hospital for Insane at Jamestown [ND Death Certif.]. William was interred at the cemetery by Hunter, ND [US FaG grave-marker, below].
After her husband's passing in 1936, Mollie went to live with her son, Ira Milton Garrett who farmed in Blanchard Township in Traill County. Mollie Elizabeth (Fleischer) Garrett lived to the age of 84, passing away on 26 Mar q945 in Blanchard township. Mollie was interred in the Cemetery by Hunter, ND [US FaG grave-marker, below].Acquisition
