In 1940, from October to December, the Hillsboro High School students published a newspaper titled "The Burros' News". The newspaper staff included Lois Sundby, Editor; Dolores Beltz, Assoc. Editor; Lawrence Aasen, Sports; and Reporters Dona Mae Anderson, LaVerne Doeden, Lorraine Engel, Mary Lou Hagen, Wilma Henka, Ardis Johnson, Roger King, Irene Koering, Dolores Meyer, Margaret Mooney, Dorothy Odden, Lorraine Overmoe, and Corinne Waslien.
These 1940 Hillsboro High School newspapers are available for reading at the Traill County Historical Society's Plummer House in Hillsboro. They were donated to the TCHS in 2024 by Ramon Borke on behalf of her father Merlin 'Bud' Borke.Acquisition
