This family history folder contains information on the Frank and Elizabeth (Johnson) Harrington family. A photograph of Frank, Elizabeth, and their oldest daughter Maude, was printed on page 78 in the 1976 Traill County History book, Vol. I. (left). As described in a document complied by the Quincy Cemetery Committee in 2003 (below), Frank C. Harrington was born on 26 March 1863 in Maine to parents Charles and Sarah (McCarter Harrington. Frank left Maine in March 1882 at the age of 19 and came west to Kelso in Traill County, Dakota Territory, where he worked as a farm laborer. In 1883, Frank began farming rented land, and in 1887 married Elizabeth Johnson, the daughter of George and Margaret (Spaulding) Johnson who from Canada in 1872 to claim land near the Port of Quincy located where the Elm River joins the Red River in Traill County, Dakota Territory. In 1888, a year after marrying Elizabeth Johnson, Frank C. Harrington purchased 160 acres of land in west-half of Section 26, just west of the Village of Quincy, as shown in the 1892 Traill & Steele Counties Atlas map for Elm River Township (below). After farming this land for over 15 years, Frank purchased and farmed 252 acres of land along the Red River in Section 23, as shown in a 1909 Traill County Atlas map for Elm River Township (below). This farm continues to be farmed by Harrington family. Frank C. and Elizabeth (Johnson) Harrington had five children, three of which survived to adulthood, including Maude (Mrs. Pike, of Williston, ND), Charles and William Harrington (see documents below from the Traill County History Book, Vol. I, and from the Hendrum Centennial, 1882-1892, book. Charles Harrington was born on 1 October 1898 on the farm in Elm River Township, and married Clara Knutson in May 1921 (info, below, two pages). Charles and Clara Harrington had three children, Frank, Francis and Richard (see family photo, below). Frank Harrington married Nyla Nelson in 1942, and they had three children: Lynn, Terry and Doreen. Their oldest son Lynn Harrington and his son Todd Harrington continue to reside on the home farm. Francis Harrington married Harold Hge and they had four children: Curtis, Patricia, Virginia and Mary Jo. Francis and Harold Hge live near Halstad, MN. Richard Harrington married Myrna Foster in 1950 and had two sons: Steven and Rick. Steve Harrinton continues to farm near the home farm. William Harrington was born on 4 November 1904 on the home farm in Elm River Township, and Married Ann Lee of Ada on 28 December 1935 (info, below). William and Ann had two sons: William Dean Harrington, who lives in Casper, Wyoming, and Jack Lyle Harrington of Grandin, ND. William and Ann Harrington (photo, below) moved to Hendrum, MN, in 1963. Their son, Jack Lyle Harrington was born on 6 June 1939 in Fargo, ND, and married Arlotte Holland of Halstad on 12 November 1960 (info, below). Jack and Arlotte Harrington had three children: Kim, Tod and Wendy (family photo, below).
