On 28-30 August 2015, the descendants of Theodore and Nettie (Larson) Kaldor held a family reunion at Gull Lake, Minnesota. In preparation for the reunion, Susie (Kaldor) Heaton conducted family history research, including a visit in 2012t o Norway to the birthplace of her great-grandfather Christian Kaldor near the village of Oyer--Susie compiled this research into a book (preface, below).
Christian Kaldor was one of five Kaldor brothers that came to America in 1866 and first settled by Albert Lea, MN. In 1967, Christian married his Norwegian sweetheart, Raghild Jahr, in Albert Lea and they had two daughters. In 1869 they travelled north and settled along the Goose River in what became Norway Township in Traill County, Dakota Territory (see below).
Christian and Raghild Kaldor had five sons and five daughters: Ann, Malla, Thea, Ole, Theodore, Carl, Edward, John, Julie and Jennie. Their son Theodore Kaldor was born on 8 August 1875 in a log cabin along the Goose River in Norway Township (see below). He attended a rural school and then Mayville Normal School to train to be a teacher in 1895. He later attended the University of Minnesota, earning a law degree in 1901. Theodore practiced law in Hillsboro, ND, and married Nettie Larson on 28 June 1905.
Theodore and Nettie Kaldor had four children: Chauncey, Harvey, Donald and Geraldine (photo of Theodore and Nettie with Chauncey, Harvey and Donald below).
This descendants of Theodore and Nettie Kaldor reunion book is rich in family history descriptions and photographs and is available for viewing at the Traill County Historical Societies Plummer House Museum in Hillsboro.Acquisition
