This folder has documents with family information about Ole Anton and Agnes Myrtle (Monson) Kamphaug, who farmed by Hatton in Traill County, North Dakota. Ole was a son of Olaus and Inger (Johnnsdr) Kamphaug (see Catalogit family history entry 2025.244.1). Photos of Ole (left) are in a 23-page "The Kamphaug Family" document about Inger and Olaus Kamphaug (or Kamphaugh). Ole Anton Eriksen (later Kamphaug) was born on 15 November 1894, one of 13 children born to Olaus Eriksen and Inger Kamphaug on their farm near Hatton in Washington Township in Grand Forks County (see Catalogit family history entry 2025.244.1). Ole A. was raised on the family farm and was age 5 at the time of the 1900 US Census. In the 1910 US Census, Ole A. was 15 and listed with his family on the home farm. Ole served his country in the US. Army during WWI. By the time of the 1920 US Census, Ole A. was 25 (photo, left) and listed as a "Farm laborer" on the "Home farm".
At age 32, Ole Anton Kamphaug married Agnes Myrtle Monson on 17 October 1926 in Grand Forks, ND. Agnes was born on 12 January 1901 to parents Kristen and Ingeborg (Alfsdr. Windness) Monson. By the 1930 US Census, Ole A. and Agnes were recorded as farming rented land had two children listed with them son Elsworth Eugene, born 23 January 1928 (died age 57, 10 Apr. 1985), and a daughter, Dorothy Eilene, born 5 December 1928 (m. Nennor Nelson on 5 Apr. 1952; d. age 83, 10 Mar. 2011 in Hillsboro). Not in this census is a son Oreane Kenneth Kamphaug who was born on 19 March 1927 but died about six months later on 12 September 1927 [ND Death Certificate]. By the 1940 US Census, Ole A. and Agness had two more children, Delbert Reuben, born 6 March 1933 (died age 20, 26 Jul. 1953 in South Korea) and Eunice Yvonne, born 4 February 1936 in Hatton (m. Harold Engebretson on 29 Jul. 1953 in Finley; d. age 68, 30 Oct. 2004).
Ole A. and Agnes Kamphaug lived their lives on their family farm by Hatton, ND. In 1932
Ole Anton Kamphaug died on 9 February 1972, age 77, in Fargo, ND. Ole A. was buried in Saint John Lutheran Cemetery by Hatton, ND [grave-marker photo, below].
Agnes Myrtle (Monson) Kamphaug lived to the age of 82, passing away at Union Hospital in Mayville on 3 May 1983. Agness as interred at St. John 's Lutheran Cemetery by Hatton, ND [grave-marker photo, below].

* in 2002, Geraldine or Gerry Mohn conducted on-line searches on behalf of the TCHS for descendants of Kamphaug's who settled by Hatton in Traill County. Gerry corresponded with Phil Olsen of Tahoe City, CA, Linda Hardesty of Arcadia, CA, Sherry Bodden, Fargo, ND, and with Gayle Collins of Kalispell, MT. Phil Olsen summarized findings to indicate that three groups of Kamphaug's came to the Hatton area, including Peder, a son of Johannes and Olea (Pedersdatter) Kamphaug, Martin and Marthea Kamphaug, and Ole, a son of Olaus Kamphaug.Cataloged By
