This folder contains photographs of Albert A. and Annie (Tofsrud-Swenson) Sorum families, as for example in about 1895 (left).
A family history for Albert and Andrine Sorum is included on pages 238-248 in the book, A family history for Hannah [Swenson] and John E. Ludwig, Residents of Hillsboro, North Dakota, USA, in the late 1800s and early to mid-1900s, available at the TCHS Plummer House in Hillsboro. Briefly, from this book we know the following:
Albert A. Sorum was born on 6 July 1864, a twin to Bendict Sorum, in Waukon, Allamakee County, Iowa. Albert’s father, Andrew Sorum, took his wife, Berthe Maria (Ronningen) Sorum, and family, to Dakota Territory in 1873. They homesteaded on 160 acres in the southeast Quarter of Section 30 in Eldorado Township, located about a mile northwest of what later became Hillsboro in Traill County, ND. Albert was one of 11 children born to Andrew J. and Berthe (Ronningen) Sourm. They are shown with 9 of their children in a studio photograph (below) taken in about 1886, likely not long after Albert’s twin brother, Bernard Sorum, and sister Olava Sorum, had died in 1886 in Hillsboro. Albert's father, Andrew J. Sorum, died in June 1900 and his mother, Berthe (Ronningen) Sorum, died in March1922. A photograph of Albert with his six brothers was taken at the time of his mother's death in 1922 (below).
Andrina (or Annie) Swenson was on born 8 October 1870 in Spring Grove, MN. Annie moved to Traill County, Dakota Territory, with her parents, Knud and Mari Swenson-Tovsrud in 1884. Annie was confirmed on 24 April 1884 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, Dakota Territory. Annie's parents, Knud and Mari farmed in Norway Township, adjacent to Eldorado Township. Annie Swenson met Albert A. Sorum, and they married on 22 January 1890 in Hillsboro.
Albert and Annie Sorum had four children, as shown in their family tree (below), including Bertha Sorum (b. 17 Mar. 1890; m. Enos Whitson, 10 Dec 1910 in Hillsboro; five children; d. age 72, 24 Sep. 1962 in Thief River Falls, MN), Arthur Sorum (b. 11 Dec. 1891 in Hillsboro; did not marry; d. age 21, 31 Oct. 1913 in Hillsboro), Minnie Sorum (b. 15 Jun. 1894 in Hillsboro; did not marry; d. age 86, 22 Dec. 1980 in Hayward, CA), and Jesse Sorum (b. 11 Dec. 1897 in Hillsboro; m. Myrtle Steen in 1924 in Halstad, MN; d. age 65, on 25 Apr. 1963 in Colorado Springs, CO).
A Sorum Family photograph taken in about 1940 (below) shows Albert A. and Annie (Swenson) Sorum with their three surviving children, Minnie, Jesse & Bertha Sorum. Their son, Arthur Sorum, had died in 1913.

Annie (Andrina Swenson) died on 6 December 1958, age 88, in Hillsboro, ND (obituary, below). She was buried in Hillsboro’s Riverside Cemetery (gravestone, below).
