VISIT OUR WEBSITEThe Trimontium Museum tells the story of Trimontium—the largest and longest-occupied Roman fort north of Hadrian’s Wall. At the heart of our exhibition is the dynamic interaction between the invading Romans and the native Iron Age communities they encountered. Trimontium has yielded one of the most significant collections of Roman military artefacts in the British Isles. Recognised as a national treasure, much of this extraordinary collection is cared for by National Museums Scotland. Additional Trimontium-related objects are held by the Trimontium Trust, Live Borders, and Historic Environment Scotland. This online catalogue forms part of The Digital Romans project. Its aim is to bring together Trimontium collections from across these heritage organisations under one digital roof, while also linking to the original artefact records held by each institution. The Digital Romans project was made possible with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The Trimontium Trust and Museum extends heartfelt thanks to National Lottery players, as well as to our valued partners: National Museums Scotland, Live Borders, and Historic Environment Scotland.
