Waltham, August 19th Dear sister Aurelia It has been so long since I have attempted to write to you or to any of my friends that I am allmost ashaimed to begin at this late period but however knowing your forgiving disposition I have just been over to sallys. She says she intends writing to you verry soon. Little mary says I must tell aunt Aurelia she has been to school all summer and can read in words of three sylables. Sarah just begins to take a little. I suppose you know Mr. Munson has lost his wife. She died a year ago last June and left three children. Laura is a keeping house for him They were all well. A few weeks since father is in a mill in Pottsdam. I wrote to jane in the spring but I did not receive any answer from it. She has been in the country. We have not seen Mr. Stevens but a few moments yet I suppose he has been so mutch pleased with his wife Esther that he could not spend time to visit us however as he has days to stay in town, we do not dispair a few more of seeing him. Yet if I was acquainted at Mr. Sherals I would go and see Esther before she left town. I suppose you wood like to hear a little knews. William White is to be married to Sally Booth verry soon. Abby Tomlinson I suspect will be married in the fall. Jefoy is debity sherrif and has had a little bad luck this summer. Almedy Griswold was married last fall to Mr. Lurel of [?]. The bell is just ringing for meeting. I wish I could go but that is out of the question. I have not been to meeting since last october and I do not expect to go till next summer, I have no one to leave with my little boy and it is so that it renders it quite difficult to leave home. Delia was here last week. She is learning the milliner’s trade in vergennes she sends her love to you and also Mrs. Graves. Maria Seymour is at montreall at school. George is commander of the steamboat whitch runs from montreall to quebeck. Maria has been to quebeck once this summer. Harvy has a store in Hinsburg. Sally Woodbridge is married in hopkinton. I had allmost forgotten to mention to you that aunt Sally Pier is no more. She died in the month of june with the quick consumption. They suppose it was occasioned by takeing care of [?] son Sidney whitch has been ill more than a year. He is know very low. It is not at all likely he will survive the winter. He is about 19 years of age. I hope dear sister you will write often. It is sutch a pleasure to me to receive a few lines from [?] absent sister. I feel so lonesome. I often conjecture I shall never see any of you again but I do not allways give way to my feelings. If I did I should cry half of my time. You know I could do my share at that any time and I have not forgotten it yet. Mrs. Samuel Strong has visited at Sally’s thiss afternoon. She requested to be rememberd to you. Mrs. Buckley allways enquires after you verry particularly. Mrs. Stevens will be able to tell you more knews than I for tell the truth I am quite a stranger in vergennes. My love to horace and kiss your little daughter for me pleas to give my love to Mrs. Flint. I have nothing more to add only one request to make that is to expose thiss letter to any person and distroy it immediately. I remain your affectionate but unworthy sister, Mary Mr. [?] sends his love to you all. I think I shall try to see Mrs. Stevens tomorrow Mrs. Aurelia P. Stevens Warren [?] by Mr. Stevens
