Abigail Hoyt Ohio Warren Trumbull County Ohio April 16th 1861 An other year is added to my life which makes me 76 years and Oh how few compard with those who die young live to the age Seventy Six. May I feel more and more my dependance on him who has sustain'd and upheld me all my life long, and may we contin- ually feel our need of thine assisting grace that we may live to thy honor and glory and fill up our days in and with usefulness, within the last year two if my Brothers in law have been called from time to eternity. Mr Salmon Fitch died April 28th 1860 Aged 75 years, and Mr. Eli T. Boughton died Feb 15th 1861 Aged Almost 75. Also a nephew George B Whittlesey of the Typhoyd Fever in March 1861 one month over 46 years, my Fathers family are fast passing away and soon it will be said all are gone, and our children will take our places and Oh may they feel it of the greatest Importance above every thing in this world to be of the greatest Importance above every thing in this world to be Prepard to seek to have the Blessed Savior our Friend and Sanctifier that when we are called to pass over Jordan we shall be as those who wait for their Lords coming, and my Dear children and Grand Children feel that they have a God to glorify and A never dying Soul to save or to lose and A may they delight in Reading that Book which is ABove all others for our Instruction and O may it be a light to all our feet and a lamp to our Path and may they so search it as to be made wise into Salvation, And your Mothers Prayers will go up to a throne of Grace as long as My reason is continued to me, God has promised to hear us when we ask believing and I believe all his previous Promises which are Yea and Amen, in Christ Jesus. And we all so live here repenting of every sin and so Strive to lay up our treasures in heaven that we shall have an Inheratance with all those who are Sancified for Jesus sake Amen. Abigail Hoyt Warren April 16th 1862 Trumbull Coun This is my 77th Birthday and I am yet in the land of the living God has spared me to see the begining of an other year in much mercy my reason is still continued to me and my health comfortable for a person of my age, last July I had a sickness in Painesville for a month but the Lord has once more raised me up and I will praise him while he lends me breath says the psalmist and may we all so live that we may so say it from the heart, we have great reason for thankfulness although wars rage and many yes have been called to such great trials as they never looked for in this happy land of ours, When we read of such dreadful Battles our hearts almost sinks within us and we cry out Oh Lord have mercy for Jesus sake, It is said the Prayers of faith shall save the sick, and if prayers go up in faith for our Land we hope and pray that God will hear and save, & may we all have a spirit of prayer and deep humility may we humble ourselves under all his Providences and Trust in him forever. I know my time here is short and I beseech my Heavenly Father to grant me grace that I may live continually to his Glory and be prepared for that rest that remains for those who love and serve God we are all commanded to be humble and be storing to day up our treasures in heaven, for where our treasure is there will our hearts be also, and oh may all my dear Children and Grande Children seek that Salvation which comes by Jesus Christ only, on the sure Foundation stone, which abideth for ever. Warren 16th 1863 I am still spared to see an other birth day and I feel it all of the the Lords mercies and I will praise him with my whole heart, we know that we have one year less to live oh what reasons have we for gratitude O may I feel my dependance continually and be thankful for every mercy and trust in God for what is to come, oh that our heavenly Father would so teach us to live that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Oh that all my Dear Children and Childrens Children might so walk in wisdoms ways and so Strive to enter in at the Straight gate that they may make their Calling and election sure, oh that they may all be wise for time and Eternity and lay up treasures where moth and rust cannot do them hurt. Since the begining of 1863 My Brother in law Elisha Whittlesey Esq has been called suddenly from time to eternity Jan 7th aged 79 and 3 months we trust he rests from his labors and his works do follow him. My Sister Adams lost her youngest Son his name was Henry Adams he died Feb 20th 1863 Aged 24 and 10 months.
