Dear Son + daughter I take this opertun
ity to inform you that we ar all well at
presant + I hope these few lines will find
you both well + all my brothers family well
the reson I did not wright before I expected
you would answer my letter which I sent
in answer to yours but I supose you were
looking for me down there before now but
the times is soe hard that I dont think I
shal be able to come until fawl I carculated
to come down this Spring with a drove of hors
es but our drivers that went down this Spring
... convayed me a good many lost by there
... I will come as sone as I can I wish James
woudl get Nancy some Close + I will pay
him wen I come down if he can sell that
wagon + harness + by hir close I should be
glad I supose my brother dont want Nancy he has
soe many girles if he cant find work for you
I wish my brother would get you a good place
ware you can doe light work enough to
pay your bord + I should like you should goe
to school some more, James you must buy
Nancy some close + keep an account of them
+ I will pay you + pay you interest on your
money, I would send hir some but I have
not sean an Eastern bill sens you went a
way + it would, not be of any youse to send
our money down thare, I am farming some
this somer, + plastering my new house, then
wen I get it finished I mean to rent it for
one year, then if I live I can make my
frends ... glad, I want to see my old
native place geneva + ....
Isaac Austin is married to Margaret Anderson
on the third day of march last he has built
him a house on the lot I gave him sixteen by
thirty five, + it is all finished by a bout four
days work + he has got it all paid for, thay
are now living with us thay will move in a
few days, I wish you to wright soon as you get
this letter your your frends is inquiring every
day or too if I have heard from you they are
anxious to hear from you both, Westcoatt + Washin
gton are both at home I carculate to put Westcoa
tt to a trade this summer Hannah growes finely
+ as mischeavus as thare is any youse for she often
talks about Nancy + James ask hir where
Nancy + James is, why thay have gon to york
State to see unkel James Austin Patty Rose
lived with us until about the first of may she went
to beaver to see hir sister + was taken sick + has
not returned yet, now more at presant I reman
your epectenate(?) father George Austin
N. B. give my respects to my brohter + all his
family + Mr Barrows family, I wan you both
to mind what my brother + sister in law sase
to you + if he has not got imployment for you
+ gets you a place you must bee contented to
goe for industery is the making of young folks
for idelness creates other bad practess, for you
both now that I rased you to industery + I hope
that wen I come down to hear that you have both
done well + obeyed your unkel + aunt this is from
your father who wishes you both well + to doe
