On behalf of Bell-Harmon Post No 36 G.A.R.
We desire to Express to you our sense of gratitute
and pleasure on the reception of the life like and
life sized oil painting presented by yourself of
your gallant soldier brother, Lieut Job D Bell
Company "C", 19th Regt Ohio Vol Inft. and that
of Lieut Chas R Harmon Company Q 24th Regt
Ohio Vol. Infty Both gallant soldier whose life blood
was shed on the bloody field of Stone River. Dec
31st 1862 and January 2nd 1883, That this our well
beloved country might live. To your widowed
mother, yourself and family we return our most sincere
Thanks for this most precious gift. We cherish the
memory of your brother and to those of us who
had the honor of serving with him ______ Know more
of his self-sacrificing devotion, his intense loyalty
to country, his commanding presence as a soldier
and above all his most gallant active under
fire endeared him to every comrade and made
his examples an incentive to more faithful
service. We feel you have paid a worthy
tribute to the memory of your gallant
brother. A legacy that we will proudly
preserve for coming time. His presence will
be an incentive to greater devotion to
the cause for which he did. We accept
your maginificent gift and will give it a
prominent place on the walls of our post
room. The good wishes and prayers
of this post will follow you in your work.
