Henry Kirtland Esq
Dear Sir
I have yours of
the 24th for which I am much obliged
Before I went to Washington County
I had two bulls from Perkins & Banoff
Jacks that I supposed would answer
my purpose. on my return I found
they did not last me and I told them
I now want two or three more. I
am going to Akron as soon as Mr. Perkins
returns (who is now absent from home) to
see what he has. I think however
I will venture to Lima for one of
Mr. Coles best if hes gone. a neighbor
of mine wants one good bull and
I have little doubt if Mr. Cole sends
up a few he will find sale for
them. I am sure he would if they
were advertised. I regret that your
Cole Bull did not arrive at our
fair sooner. it was noon and after
the committee had reported on
sheep. had he been here he
would have taken the first
[?????]. My Houghton sheep were
the best on the grounds I had
a hunch that I obtained with my swift
sheep that I think better than any
that took the [????].
I did not however enter anything
for [????]. I regret that you
were not at our fair. I think
we had a good one. If you can
let me know as soon as by Wednesday's
mail whether you sent to Washington
or not. I would like it as I may
purchase another of Mr. Perkins' if you do
not send.
Yours truly
