Letter from Joseph Futey to his sister Mary Ann Futey
"USS Pensacola
Dear Sister Mary:
I received your letter and was
glad to here from you. I am feeling
fine and, I hope that you are the same.
That's O.K. about not so, much because I
know how a person feels when you
just can't get down to writing.
I am so glad that you liked the cards that
I sent you from Calif. but, wait until
you see the ones I have from down
here. I can't send them to you but,
I'll bring them with me when I come
home.
I wrote to Chuck the other day but,
I sent it to his school's address. I thought
that he would still be in Chicago. I
wanted to write to Estalee but, I forgot
her address. I never put it down in
my book. I hope that she'll write so
that I can get it.
The California weather was O.K. but,
I wasn't out in the sun very much. I
had to work in the barrack's.
I didn't see any movie stars while I
was there but, I did see Louis Armstrong
and Benn Goodman. They were O.K. I wrote
to Inky Petrick the other day. I got his
address from Charlie Augusta. He is home-
sick.
I have a couple of handsome guys
picked out for you and, I really mean
handsome. One is a redheaded curly
haired guy and, the other is a black curly
haired guy. Which one do you want?
Say did the lady from Milwaukee send
my pictures yet. If so send them to
me. I'll e expecting them so, don't forget.
Well I guess I answered all of your
questions and, since there is nothing more
to add I'll have to close. Please excuse
the handwriting because, I wrote this
letter on my knee. I wear the
miraculous medal always but the chain
broke so, I'll have to get another one.
God Bless you and, ans. soon.
Your Loving Brother
Joe
