To this Graduation Class
of 1934, their parents, patrons,
and friends of Brookfield
Schools; on behalf of our Board
of Education I wish to extend
to you our appreciation of your
presence here tonight.
Before addressing a few remarks to the Class I wish to
state to you in this audience,
that we appreciate your co-
operation with us in the
operation of our schools in
the year just past. In my
opinion we have been passing
through and are now in one of
the most trying periods in the
life of the Public School System
of this State and Nation.
This has been caused by the
economic situation and the fact
that we must pay off a building
indebtedness, contracted when
the value of the dollar was
a diminished income, and a
higher valued dollar.
Regardless of how dark
the situation sometimes
appears to be, I have con-
fidence that means will be
worked out, whereby the
public school education of
our youth will continue to
go forward.
My reason for this be-
lief is the fact that our
Public school is one of the
foundation stones on which
our Nation rests, and our
people will not stand idly
by and see their children
deprived of opportunities
to which they are justly
entitled. In the tasks
which lie ahead of us we
again ask your help and
cooperation.
To you members of this
class I would ask you ever to
keep in mind that it has
meant a real sacrifice to
your parents and the people
of Brookfield Township to put
you in the position you now
hold.
You have completed your
high school course but your
real battles in life are just
beginning. We trust in your
studies here you have gained
some knowledge that will be
of value to you in whater
line of endeavor you may
choose to follow.
I congratulate each one
of you on having completed the
work and studies which entitles
you to the diploma I will now
have the privilege of present-
ing, and it is my wish you
may each receive a full
measure of happiness and
success in the years ahead
of you.
