Dear Brother October 31, 1829 [?] Your of July 20, 1829 Grover or [?] never had any land of me and I had knowledge ever sold to [?] more than one half of any lot. as that is my mode of doing Business fro [?]. I believe Ritter is entitled to one half of the land no more. When I was there I (torn page) Grover had [?] to the lot now (torn) cannot I do not want you to be at any pages read measuring the land. [?] has been here a [?] [?] from Ohio and says George Phelps is [?] [?] [?] Two Hundred Dollard, and that the Debt is transferred to Judson Phelps and for which Judson holds a clear deed of George Phelps lot of land and he wanted me to give fifty Dollars. Stebbbins fifty Dollards and then to make up the $200. I would not do anything about it. and if all was true I thought he might as well let Judson have the Land. and I told hime & Jeffery B. Phelps that I doubted to [?] of Mrs. Stebbins doing anything before she was better informed. But they [?] [?] Mrs. Stebbens and beset her to give one Hundred and fifty Dollars.How they succeeded I have not heard. Her health is much better and we are all well. I enclose you five Dollars. Hope you will see my losses paid in Astabula County and send me the Collection Receipt. Mrs. Griswold joins me in our Best wishes for your- self & family.
