Letter from Sylvester Pars to Horace Stevens. Letter is dated "New York, Sept. 23rd, 1828
"New York Sep. 23rd 1828
Dear Sir
having an oportunity to write you by _____ I accordingly
avail myself of it. My father arrived here from Ohio the 24th
day of august last. he appeared quite deranged, he could give
but little account of his travels until the next day when he was
more composed and his recollection stronger and could give
some account of Ohio, but all the information we could get
from him was at intervals, - he was restless, and complained of
his head - he remained here about 12 days and left N. Y.
for Vermont 4th Day of Sep _____ I wrote to Mr. Fields and give
him to understand how he was in his mind a few days past.
I received a letter from Sally who informed me that he was very
much deranged and could not give any account of himself.
she said if I had not have written they should not have
know where he came from nor how he got there. they employed
a physician and blistered and bled him - and thought he was
no better
I should esteem it a favour if you would write me
and give me an account of the manner in which he was
handled while with you - if I receive any further information
respecting him that would render it necessary I will write
you
We are all well and enjoying Dull times
Yours Respectfully Sylvester Pars
