October 24, 1894 letter from I. H. Phelps in Akron, Ohio to D.W. Hine, Newton Falls, Ohio, regarding a case.
"Akron O., Oct 24 1894
D. M. Hine Atty-
Newton Falls_ Ohio.
Dear Sir
I wrote you sometime since the
results of my interview with Mrs. Hudson, but
have received no reply. since I was at Mantua
in which she authorizes me to make a settlement
on a basis of $50.00 less than what I wrote for.
This is caused by some misunderstanding she has
had with Attorney Nichols as to fees. Of course
the opportunity must be given Mr. Hudson to see
his little daughter at all times and the child must
have the right to visit him. The court would
never permit any interference with these rights
the little girl will soon be old enough to think
and act for herself and will visit her father
whenever she wishes and live with him if she
choses to do so, and the mother cannot prevent it.
I would be glad to have this matter fixed up.
I believe it would be in the interest of the whole
family if it could be done. I have never received
one dollar in fees in the case and if it is settled
I hope that you will see that the settlement is
effected by you and me in order that my fees
may be secured.
Would lie to hear from you soon.
I will meet all parties either here, at Ravenna
Mantua - or Newton Falls for the purpose of
making this settlement
Yours Very Truly
