Letter to Jean Law from Mary
"Tue Morn.
Dear Jean
This is my last sheet of writing
paper so I better drop a few lines
before I get some more. I'm waiting for
my water to get hot so I can wash
clothes. Gee it sure turned cold this
week this morning it was freezing out
so you see it looks a little like
winter. Jerry was home again last week
& my cousin came. we sure had a
grand time over the weekend. Carol
& Jimmie have a little cold but nothing
to worry about. I think it's the sudden
change in the weather. Mrs
Selby came home last night & she
was here bright & early this morning
between her & Rosada you can't get
much work done. Dick Gilbert is
in Chi. now in a naval hospital
I don't know when he'll be home.
We went down to see about your
check but Mrs Wiggins said Vye
came and got it. Does Russ still
get his furlough or don't he know
for sure. I hope he does. Have you
seen Paul Finnagan. or is he in
a different camp. how is Lelcia(?) tell
her I said hello. Today is sure the
big day I hope the right horse comes
in first but one never knows does
one. I got a big was so I better
get at, it's 9 o'clock now. Your
dad got the rest of the stuff from
the cellar at Wiggins she was kind
of snippy, but your dad didn't care.
Well Jean this letter is just to let
you know we are all still living
will write more later. I hope I hear
some good hot scandal, but no such
luck if I do I send you a special
delivery letter haha. So long
for now.
Love Mary.
