Letter from Russell Law to Jean Law

" Well honey I have 3wk in today. I been here 4wk
but the first week didn't count, we packing up tomorrow
and moving to rifle rang which we have 4wk up there then
we come back I don't know for sure if I get a forlough
or not I tell you later I might get. k.p. duty for awhile.
I very sorry the way I look in that picture but it was
suppose to be a sober picture which it was, they are
suppose to be 63 men in a platoon some fella was in that
picture , I when to sick call last night I spent a night
there , they said I had a bad fever , I think they were
crazy, I just went over for a couple of pill and they kept
me all night, some place. How Jimmy coming. Tell Alice
I hope her baby grow up to be a nice girl like the rest of
the Gilbert Girls it is a girl isn't it. I hope Harold
and Wilbert is coming along all right. Is dad feeling good.
Is my baby enjoy her work. "My baby is you." are you
have alot of fun in your spare time or are you busy,
do you have a good supply of money to kept you going.
How the car running, Is that skin disease ok now
I never in my life wish to see anybody more that I do
you and Jimmy, Jean. I miss you so damn much, I
can't think straight, but someday I get home to you,
I would be more satisfied here, if I could just get out
of here for a night haven't see a civilian for 1 month, but
I be done in 4 more wks and then I get some liberty
Jean I don't think you understand this place, we all
call boot - which means the lowest thing in the marine
core, we don't get are uniform until we finish this
training , in those pictures we have are pants & field
jacket on which we had in are sea bag are coat we
don't receive until we are done, this sea bag is
just a bag you keep everything you own in this bag
really have to jam thing in it. well honey I have to
hit the sack in a hour, have to clean my rifle tonight
so I have to close sorry I have wrote so much in
the last week, but been to busy. well honey I see
you in my dreams honey so Goodbye"
