Letter from Jedediah Fitch to Sam DeWolf. "Vienna August 30 1839 my dear siz How vain and transitory are the things of this world, in the midst of life, we are in Death, O how shall I perform the painfull task, your sister, yes your poor sister Louisa is no more, she gave birth this morning about 9 oclock to a fine boy, and did not survive the scene but about 3 hours she was attended by Doct. Blachley, and had not any alarming simptoms untill after the birth of her child, when Doct Blatchley became alarmed from an occurrence which is not unusual at such times, he executed all his powers to save her she died before he left the House. If her friends have no objections she will be buried here at the grave yard near Doct. Johnson, on Sunday about 11oclock ... if her friends should prefer to have her buried at Vernon I should not object Yours Jedediah Fitch Sam DeWolf Esq"
