"Saturday, November 7th 1865
My Own Dear Millie-
You know how much I dislike
to have a body say they will do a thing
and their failure to do it in the appointed time
Well, here I am doing or have done the
thing or much dislikes in others I told
you if I did not see you on such a day
you should have a note from me. I always
try to do as I agree but-this time found it's
impossible. Thursday night I should
have seen you had it not rained. was
sewing at home all day and being so
quiet my thoughts half full may they
come and must and would not be
_____ to remain at home although
the Ohio clouds _____ bitter tears such they
seemed to me don't know why but
I had the blues that night and came
near giving up to impatience. Midnight
brought sleep to my relief. It's not often
I allow myself such feelings but do believe
I was so happy last week. have thought
so much about the times in Romance(?)
such weeks are pleasant to me who cares
for the career of education. Did I tell you
that when going home from church Sunday
morning I met Mr. Pescler(?) on the side walk
who turned and walked home with me
his object he said was to learn where I lived
that with my permission he might call
some night. Of course I should be happy
to see him but I may not be there.
Thursday morn all my lonely feelings
had to _____ to _____ silver wings and
flown away. have not made their
appearance since and I forever more I shall

doubt and dread might never come
again. I spent the morning picking up

that I must see Gertie before coming

moments or I would have gone to the
store. When I saw you Monday I did not
think of the 40 cts I owe you- pardon
my forgetfulness.
Mrs. Bucher is quite sick but
Mary is stronger and feels better than before
for a long time so I along very nice
enjoy myself _____ up a part an a quilt

know what that includes and I
overheard(?) part of this _____ have
just got my clothes changed and the 40
This weather is cold enough for you
I hope. wonder if there will be an
arrival in _____ to night- Tell me
Millie when you write if my friend
James has called on you since I left and
what he said about matters and things
