Photograph of the original painting.
Written on the back:
"Nancy (Anna) Bishop Perkins, wife of General Simon. This is a copy by Beatrice Woods of Cincinnati of a painting, presumably the original painted in 1831 by Waldo and Jewett of New York at the same time that they painted the portrait of General Simon. In 1928 or 29 this presumed original was hanging in the home of the children of Colonel Simon Perkins of Akron, now (corrected by MER) belonging to the Summit County Historical Society.
According to the registry of American portraiture at the Frick Museum in New York, Wald and Jewett were well known as painters of portraits in the 1820's and 1830's. This is not the original frame."
