When the farms we now (ocupy) were first tilled they were rich in all theelements of plant food. The decayed trees, leaves, and under (groth) of heavy forest (______) by the ashes left from the burning of hundreds of cords of wood to the acre had not only left a deep covering of natural fertility but a loose loam soil full of humus and natural warmth. A soil ready to give life and strength to the young plant that grew rapidly and strong without filling the ground or cultivating the growing plant. The thought of the Pioneer farmers was not what (shal) we (suply) humus but how (shal) we dig up the earth and plant the seed among the roots and stumps. It was not what kind of cultivator(shal) we use for they ends abruptly on side of pag was written "did not_____"
