Mr. Gates a new post office box.
Our box is 61 [?] this [?]
Elmer about the [?]. Papa going
to mill. We will send a card
or something the forefront of week
Gustavus June 23
My dear Seneca,
Papa wrote you
a short letter monday morning. We
will write you now so as to get
it out. It is a dark dreary day.
Yesterday was not much better.
Think it will be colder, we read
your letter monday when the boys
came home from school. Glad to know
that you were well although
you had of seige of Grippe.
Elmer is still sick. Have had
the Dr. for him and as we
thought he has jaundice. He is
very yellow. Millie told him this
morning he looked like a Dago.
He has not been able to keep any
thing on his stomach until
yesterday and today has not
eat but very little. He is better to-
day, sleeps better. Sorry to have him
have to leave school. Your father
and I both are having hard
[?]. We have managed to get
meals and wash dishes about all
tho he is feeling ever so much
better. When I get rid of this cold
hope to feel better. Guess I have
over done or been doing to much.
If I could only find a good trusty
girl [?] one that knew something-
do not know what we should do
if not for Nellie. She come
over by evry week. Then will not
bother you any more with our
ailments. Think we will be all
right after a little. Truman will
feel very disappointed because it
is [?] for they have a party
booked at Elsie Shipman's for
tonight. He ahs spoke for a
rig. Grover is going with him.
Evening. Nellie has gone home,
Truman and Wilson studying,
Elmer lying on the lounge. He
did not eat much tonight. I
know he feels miserable. I think it
has been harrying about him for
sometime. Are you sitting up
late nights now. Remember what
I told you. We have not heard any
smallpox news of late. Do not hear
any particular excitement at John
stons over it. So hope it may be all
[?]. I rather think by reports
miss Fuller is not having best of
[?]. Elmer says they will turn his
out-before spring he means his [?]
will. Guess some of them go through
all kinds of monkeyshines for his
benefit. i thought it would be so
when he was [?] them
with taking them across. He
[?] if they did not do so and so
it is like coz Nellie's little girl [?]
"Mamma says she will whip me
but she never will."
I think your dinner of Onions,
just the thing for you, would be
a good thing for you to have
once every week. I read once if
people would have a meal of
onions once a week all the time
it would keep off grippe. Tell the
cook bring us the onions. Wish we
had some. We hear Jim Smiths
folks have rented a farm about
two miles south of Warren. Are to
move anytime. Will let you know
when they go. A letter from Aunt
[?] tues she is well and sent
her love to Seneca. C.E. business
meeting at Mrs. Knapps Sat eve.
Harry has been cutting wood with
Ralph for his Grandpa. He tells
[?] he gets into with others. And
tells it on himself as well as others
told about he and Himes going to
Johnston to see [?] Hime's boy. Said
they were both drunk as hell when
they came home. Guess it is plain
enough where they get their
gut of whiskey he tells about
tho de hoes not say he gets
it of [?] tho says the Dr
is making money. Made $16
one night. They went Wayne
to a dance. Ralph said he had
a [?] of whiskey with him
and [?] and [?] Layem
each had a gut and Home
was seen at the Hotel winking
[?] out and he went to
Wayne. I tell you. I do wish
this hoke could be routed out.
People tell how Hime does his
deviltry [?] the eaves of
the church. Well I must stop
writing as my hands and arms
will ache so. Remember me to Aunt
Mary and family when you go
there. Tell us all about them.
Now take good care of yourself.
Mind your mother and love her
just the same if you can.
Your loving mother.

Dear Seneca,
I was at the
center yesterday and had
quite a talk with Geo Cowden
and F.T. Shipman. They are both
red hot on the Syler business.
Both expressed willingness
to half defray expenses.
None of us know the address of
Antisaloon League men.
If you have it please send at
once or if you will maybe you
had better write him stating
case as best you can. You
can refer them to FFS-if you
think best. I think the trouble
is increasing all the time.
Can you get some advice at
Hiram? maybe someone there
can help us in some way.
Shipman thinks there would
be no trouble in raising 20 or $25 for a [?]
