My dear Seneca,
Another week gone
by, and I wonder how and where
you are tonight. Wilson has
gone to C.E. to night. He and
his father went to church to
day. All went to hear Mr.
Wilson as Mr. Knapp did not
get home. He is making quite
a visit. Suppose you attended
examinations yesterday. Glad
it was not a rainy day. How
did you go? Mr. Harshman
was going and we were
going and we were
going to send your thing
to you by him. So we will
send by mail soon. Well, we have
been eating our lunch, bread
and milk, crackers, and cheese
and apple pie. Do you room
up stairs or down, and do you
have a stove in it. It seems
a long time since you went
away. I went to Lend a hand
at Pearl Evans. Had a nice time
and done a lot of work. Done me
good to get out, I guess.
Harry and [?Eliah] and the Ellis
boys are going to Buffalo a week
from Tuesday. And Chase
and his nephew went last
week. Papa is holding Dewy
and I tell you the little wee
Multy is a great cat. Travels
all around with his tail up on
his back. A [?] ball of fur.
We done our first churning
yesterday. Had nice butter.
Mrs. Whistler and Rosie Loyd
were up and helped me last
Fri make pickled tomatoes,
made catsup, chopped pickle,
too. I finished up. We are going
to care for some grapes this week.
Quite a lot of grapes we have
Glad you have some fruit
to eat. Do you like your
board. Are there any young
people in Mrs. L's family.
I am so sleepy. Will have to
put by my writing. Finish
in the morning. Good night.
Will imagine I get your kiss.
Monday morning. A big frost
last night. Everything white.
Hope it will warm up some.
Sat. Wilson went delivering
those books. Mrs. Taylor did
not take his book. She had
no money and did not want
to borrow but would have liked
the book. Mr. Davis was gone
and his father under no consid-
eration would take the book.
Said he should buy him no
more books. Said he had paid $10
for school books–quite cranky
I guess. He sends the pay for
the books to the company. This
morning, express charges. 55 cts.
Will send balance of money
some other time. This other
letter came out. Wilson says tell
you Davis acted devilish.
Not very pretty speech I think.
He says he will try to sell
those books for you
if you wish.
How my dear boy? I do hope
you are well. Be very careful
about getting cold. I expect
the [?] will be always
worn. Hope to hear from you
to day. Will send those things
to you this week. Is there any-
thing more missing?
Aunt Amelia and Claire were
at the sermons. Presume they
were dissappointed not seeing
us there. Aunt Mary & Bertie
were there. I do think Uncle
Joel might have come over
and see Papa. The money
for that book you sent by
express is at the express office
at Farmdale. Will get it
as soon as we go there.
The boys are all ready. Papa
is going to the south place
to cut corn. I must close
and go to work. With best of
love. Your mother
Anna Partridge
You did say anything about
the pay for that monthly. What
has [?Hines] sent for. Do you wish
us to pay him.
