Gustavus, Feb 20th 1901
My Dear Seneca,
Your letter read yester-
day and one from Aunt Nim. She
has been quite down with Grippe for
nearly three weeks. And now her
left side is troubling her. I feel
real worried about her. Think it
almost makes her homesick.
We were glad to hear you were
feeling so well. Think you took
quite a long hard walk sunday,
but think you must be feeling
pretty well. You did not say how
Aunt Mary was but conclude she
was usually well.
Elmer has just sat down with
latine book in hand. Last fri
night was literary. He had to
take the Pres. chair. All said
he done real well. They could
understand and hear him better
than Dell. He (Dell) had to go to K
after Miss Burrell. There was a loud
of K folks over. Took in over $500
last night. There was a [?]
contest at Kinsman. A few went
over, among them Harry + Ellen K.
There has been lots of sleigh riding
done of late. All around I guess
Nellie was up to day. She made
fried cakes, bread, swept etc.
Are you having lots of snow now.
Our driveway is drifted full.
has snowed steadily all day today.
Blowed some too. Does not look
as though [?] was very
[?] does it.
Thurs eve will finish this letter
so as to send in the morning
[?]. The boys and I are alone
this evening. Your father has gone to
grange. The boys before going
to [?] had a general [?].
Elmer delivered one of his original
orations beginning with taking
a trip to London, on a Jack-ax.
You can imagine what he ment.
He wiped the dishes for me and
kept his tong a going all the time.
Well, today Mr. Knapp, Lucien
Clertor’s SI=J, and Papa have been
at the church at work on the
platform, building it out at each
side even with the middle. They
have the carpet. I do not know
whether they have ordered pulpit
and chairs as not. They will
finish it tomorrow. I think
Alberta was unable to sing last
sunday not even to lead in
sunday school. Her grief is so
deep. The Dr. is [?] [?]-
[?] we are hearing since he
is gone. Some are telling of their
exploits with him if they only
had him in the [?].
Some of the Gustavus news in the
Chronicle is that Lewis Pellins has
bought a house and lot at Cortland
and moves there the 1st of Apr.
What will the M. G. Church do with-
out them. Really I do not know but
they will be just as well off without
them. Do you sit up late nights
now to study, please don’t. I want
you to keep well. How soon will be
the vacations for spring term, or
cannot you tell yet.
Dear, I’m so sleepy. Will have to stop
writing for tonight-someone will
finish in the morning. with love, good night
Anne E. P.
Fri morning. Bright and pleasant
this morning. Looks cold out. Papa
is going down to the church again,
finish this AM they think. The [?]
are going to put the carpet down
this PM. They have not the pulpit
and chairs ordered yet.
Bell read a [?] poem at Grange
last night. Took well he [?].
Keith was there last night. Has
he wrote to you yet. Mr. Shipman
had a letter from that [?]
man. Like the last one you sent.
Lucien’s folks have tried to hire
both Elmer and Harry. They have
hired an Able’s boy. Last [?]
night, Wilsons and Trumans took
a sleighload to Levin Bushnells.
They had a fine time. He smiles
entertained them nicely. They each
had two nice large russet apples
and an orang on plates. Now may-
be I told you that last week.
It is getting time for the hack
so will stop. You will be in H
this week I suppose. Again with
best of love, your mother
Anna Partridge
