" Camp Dennison Nov 24th 1864
Brother Horace
I seat myself to draft you a few
lines if it should not prove
interesting it will at least serve
for a short time to drown the
dull monotony of hospital
life which to me has become al=
most intolerable there has noth=
ing new transpired at this
place since my return evry=
thing goes on with the same
old tread mill system get
up in the morning eat our
breakfast next on the pro=
gram the doctor makes his
rounds with how do feel
this morning probably proscribes
you tincture of iron or whiskey
as the case may be diner at
twelve supper at five it
is not necessary to inform
you what our living con=
sists of suffice to say is poor
enough it is a disgrace to the
state of Ohio and man or set
of men that will not rob the sol=
dier of his rations when he
becomes disabled for service
ought to be sunk to the low=
est depths of hell and ever=
lasting damnation there
to remain for his conscience
to gnaw him for eternal
ages supper at five bedtime
when you see fit so one day
another weeks and months
frequently years the last of
the Ohio regiments left the
barracks last Saturday the
183 one battalion of Invalids
leave for the north in a few
days the hospital is pretty
well filled up about three
hundred came in to day

examination probably in a
few days then I shall
know my fate how do the
copper heads feel since the
election what do the people
think of Sherman's moove
