"Fire department captain Jack Thompson (left) wishes luck to Nicki Kuzma (right) just before the Warren featherweight left for Boston Saturday to compete in the National AAU ring tournament. Kuzma is the 1950 Cleveland Golden Cloves 126-pound champion and will see action with members of the Cleveland team during the tournament. Competition is slated tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday. Warren's last AAU champion was featherweight Ted Fittipaldo, who captured the crown in 1948. Kuzma will be the last of a long list of amateur boxers trained by Thompson if the local fireman closes his training gym on Main St., in the near future, as planned."
