This is the west end and north side of the Southern Pacfic passenger depot at Visalia. The depot is located at 207 East Oak Street. It opened September 12, 1916. It served passenger trains of the Southern Pacific Company and the Visalia Electric Railroad. The most important train that served Visalia was Southern Pacific's Sequoia. This train provided coach and pullman service between Oakland and Porterville. The last passenger service was discountinued on October 3, 1940. The tracks are located in the center of Oak Street behind the photographer. Since 1971 the building has been a restaurant. The area in the foreground has been extensively landscaped.
