Group of 21 men posing in front of Tuolumne County Courthouse.
Written in long hand on front of photo, "First crowd - men drafted from Tuolumne for
Worlds War I, 1917"..
Back of mounting card is also noted, "Babe M - said it was not the first group of men
sent off. First group left about Feb. 1917 ?" Inscription states: 2nd from left, Ray Dondero, 3rd from left (on wall) Walter Hill, center , wearing glasses, Henry Menke, 6th from left Zek Goodwin (arms crossed).
Per Jim Prunetti, May 23, 2017 - James McMaster should be deleted from the description because he's not in the picture. The date of this image should be "on or abut August 1, 1917" according to Hart Tambs, whose father is pictured. My grandfather, James McMaster, joined about six months later.Collection
