color-coded map with color legend showing ROW and land holdings from Tuolumne to Camp 44; prepared by Art Ronten (Kauppi description) This map is a color coded map quite similar to map # M15222 and I won't give an indepth description except where I see differences. Any reseacher should look at file #M15222 as well as this one. The differences as I see them on this map are the areas labeled as Units. Such as the Wrights Creek Unit This is a block of government lands which the Forest Service (Stanislaus National Forest, Miwok Ranger District) had determined needed to be harvested, In this case due to a recent fire, (most likely) since the Wright's Creek fire burned over some 25,000 plus acres in 1949. This area was most likely a part of the timber program, but a lot more timber was removed, especially from clear cut ground than was originally planned. . Hull Creek unit, Clavey River unit, 76 Creek Unit, Lost Creek unit are timber harvest areas which are in the regular timber sale program of the Miwok Ranger District. The Reynolds Creek Unit is a little different since it lies on two Ranger Districts . The District boundry in that area is Reynolds Creek. The area to the north of Reynolds is Miwok District while the area to the south is the Groveland District. Its possible that the District boundry changed since then. If not then the two Districts cooperated in some fashion to get the project done.
