Description

Mainlline to MP 49.5 : Camp 30 and 32 (Sieckert description) This map is curious in showing a direct connection to the Sierra railway and traces that trackage back to the Sugar Pine RR at Ralph's. The map shows the mainline only of the The Hetch Hetchy & Yosemite Valleys Railway quite carefully across the North Fork of the Tuolumne River and up through Basin Creek. From Nashton it continues the climb to the ridge top and crossed into the Clavey River drainage. Prior to crossing the River they had to proceed along Hull Creek until they able to cross it at Hull meadows. At Hull meadows a spur was spun off which crawled up both Lilly and Hull Creeks. At the next drainage, at Two Mile Creek, which was a complex one, they spun off another spur up Two Mile Creek. The main line continued up the Clavey River and at about mile post 37 1/2 they crossed the Clavey River. At MP 40 1/2 two more spurs were spun off. One down the SE banks of the Clavey River and the other down the NW side of Reed Creek. Camp 27 was just past those spurs. As of the time of this map the Railroad appears complete to 45 1/2 with work planned or in various stages of work to MP 49 and on two spurs into Reynolds Creek country. There is a turning wye shown at 19 miles from Tuolumne, which I've not seen on the other rail road maps. Camp 21 is shown at about the 22.5 marker shown. Camp 24 is located at the 29MP. Camp 25 is just past the 33 mile marker. Camp 30 is at the 42 1/2 marker. Camp 32 on the west bank of Lost Creek the 45 1/2 marker is on the east bank of Lost Creek..
