Scope and Content

Prepared by F.M. Woodman; includes proposed ROW from Tuolumne to vicinity of Camp 21 (Kauppi description) A hand traced contour map by F M Woodman. He plots the Hetch Hetchy & Yosemite Valleys Railway right from the sawmill in Carters (Tuolumne) along the North Fork of the Tuolumne River, to a trestle crossing site and then turns up Basin Creek. At Nashton he shows in good detail the various buildings there. This location serves for several years as maintainers location for the railway log cars. A lot of people lived there, there was a school and even a post office. By the time we get to Nashton, there have been five short spurs to tap timber in side drainages. There was a sixth just beyond Nashton. In the NE corner of section 32 a spur over two miles in length winds its way towards Russell Creek a tributary of Cottonwood Creek. In the NE corner of section 28 we have a spur labeled "Main line to Yosemite". It reaches across the ridge from Cottonwood Creek to Hull Creek. Meanwhile the rest of the mainline has headed north to Fahey meadow. Camp 9 can be found on a tributary of Basin Creek about a mile beyond the loop which turns the railway east above Nashton. Camp 10 can be found on spur #8 off that same loop. Once again the camp which Krieg states was never to be found on a map. Can be found on this map in the very NW corner of section 33. This is right near the start of the Russell Creek spur. (Rutty description) Scale: 1 inch = 1000 feet Location: Tuolumne County Township/Range/Section: T2N R16E T2N R17E T1N R16E T1N R17E
