Description

Negative for photo TP17668. Sierra RR according to "A Railroad Transplant, The Sierra Railway Company of California" by Richard Rosenquist dated 1988, the Sierra RR coach #2 was a combination coach during its life with the Sierra RR and was sold to the United Commercial Co. in 1925. This coach was used by the Southern Pacific Railroad to ferry transcontinental passengers from the east end of track of the transcontinental railroad during its construction, west to Stockton, Sacramento or Oakland. The coach is now under a shed at Railtown 1897. There is a narrow gauge track adjacent to the coach with what looks like a small cart upon it. This may be a service track for hauling heavy equipment around.
