Description

Group-on short line (Yosemite) train. Union Construction Co., Vallecito, Ca. 1906, Construction Hydro Power on the Stanislaus River year. 1906-07-08-09. Consisting of Head Quarters. @ Vallecito which was the general offices for the Co. Sanderson & Porter Engineers, New York. After the 1907-1908 money panic the control switched and Ford Bacon & Davis Engineers were appointed to replace Sanderson & Porter. The following locations for construction - Camp 9 Power House & pressure pipe line, Forebay Reservoir, Flume line from San Bar Dam to Forebay 15 miles long, Camp 31 Saw Mill cutting lumber, flume, Relief Dam to Store water, Middle Camp warehouses 7 barns. Materials & supplies were hauled in by long line teams from Angels Camp and Middle Camp. This photo represents the promoters and the General Management of the Union Construction Company who were given a special trip into the woods by the Standard Lumber Company manager Mr. D.H. Steinmetz on his logging railroad train. The following on train: R.S. Buck & Wife, General Manager Captain H.F. Jackson & Wife, Assistant General Manager Seton Porter, Assistant Manager Beech Thompson, owner of water rights and Seton Porters's dog. Type: Paper
