Description

Unidentified man and woman, full length portrait, Circa 1860 - 1910. Bacigalupi Family Album #4. He is seated in a fringed upholstered chair with one arm, he is wearing suit coat and trousers, the coat has wide lapels and is worn over what appears to be velvet vest with silk shawl collar, white dress shirt, spread collar and ribbon tie, he has nicely trimmed hair just to the top of his ears, parted on the right and combed to the left, a large unwaxed moustache, plain toed boots. She is wearing a dark dress of faille or some heavy silk, center buttoned all up the front, smooth, tight fitting bodice, long sleeves with buttons and lace trim at the cuff, her dress skirt is decorated with deep tucks and rows of pin pleating over boxy pleats, the dress appears to have a bustle with a long decorative tassel (or it may be part of the chair?) the dress is finished at the neckline with a bow, her hair is drawn back severely and fastened in a chignon or bun that holds it at the neck, Sewells Art Gallery photo.
