New Orleans, Louisiana
VISIT OUR WEBSITEThe University of New Orleans Department of Anthropology and Sociology maintains archaeological collections accumulated during almost 50 years of urban archaeology in the City of New Orleans. UNOARC (University of New Orleans Archaeological Research and Curation) is devoted to preserving these collections, promoting innovative research on the city's history, and sharing this information with the community and public. The collections below are of three types. "Archives" are collections that are not housed at UNO, but that archaeologists and students from UNO have recovered or documented. "Exhibits" are thematic collections of items, curated by students and researchers. "UNO Collections" include items that are housed at UNO as a curation and research facility, either as permanent donations, as federally-mandated curation responsibilities, or as temporary loans while research is being conducted on them.
